Sophie (Maria Sachpazidi) was born in Athens but grew up in Perama, a neighborhood of Piraeus. In October 2020, she independently released her first personal album online, entitled “A Stone Like Home.” It contains some of the Greek-language songs she had written over the past five years.
In these story-songs, she tries to share what she feels and understands about the world, people, and herself. Her musical companions are Stefanos Mouroutsos on guitar, Orestis Petrakis on piano, Haris Paraskevas on drums, and Alexandros Ladianos on bass. The cover and poster design is by Katerina Papasyfaki. The first album was produced by Pantelis Nikiforos.
In her career, Sophie has collaborated with contemporary artists and musicians (Usurum, Paidi Trauma, Astrogonos, Stavros Tsantes), and shared the stage with MAZOHA, Danai Nielsen, Nalyssa Green, Paidi Trauma, Despoinis Trihromi, SWIM, Djingovic, Fotis Siotas, HARΑ, Taf Lathos, and others. She has participated in tribute albums such as “After:
Tribute to Manos Loizos” – Minos EMI (2022).
